The Uganda Skateboard Society achieved a historic milestone during the Grand Skate Tour 2025 in Moscow, Russia, where its representatives had the extraordinary opportunity to meet and interact with skateboarding legend Danny Way.Led by its founder and Grand Skate Tour ambassador Gose Gerald, the Uganda Skateboard Society continues to position Ugandan skateboarding on the global map. Gerald’s long-standing efforts to uplift young skaters have not only brought international visibility to Uganda’s fast-growing skate culture but also opened the doors to meaningful connections like the one with Danny Way.
During the event, skateboarding icon Danny Way delivered an inspiring talk to over 250 skaters from 64 countries, followed by a public speech from Gose Gerald, who highlighted the growing grassroots skateboarding movement he is building in Uganda.
The Uganda Skateboard Society’s interaction with Danny Way marks another step forward in its mission to grow skating at home while building bridges with the global skate community. As Uganda continues to shine at international events, moments like these inspire a new generation of skaters across East Africa.
