The Uganda Skateboard Society, dedicated to fostering local talent and cultivating a thriving skateboarding community, recently crowned Calvin as the Uganda Skater of the Year in a ceremony that celebrated the spirit of grassroots support.

Unlike traditional awards based on judges’ decisions, this prestigious accolade was determined by public vote through the Uganda Skateboard Society’s official website, www.ugandaskateboardsociety.org. The platform served as a battleground of support, where enthusiasts and fans from all corners of the globe rallied behind their favorite skaters.

Calvin’s win wasn’t just a personal victory; it was a testament to the unwavering support he garnered from the global skate community. His exceptional skills, dedication, and infectious passion for skateboarding resonated with voters, propelling him to the coveted title. As the votes poured in, the exhilaration within the skateboarding community soared, solidifying Calvin’s place as a beloved figure among his peers.
The award ceremony was held on the 31st December at the end of year night skate session at MXP, was a vibrant celebration of talent and camaraderie. Calvin stood at the forefront, humbly accepting the prestigious award as the Uganda Skater of the Year. Alongside the honor, he was awarded a cash prize of UGX. 300,000/=, a recognition of his dedication, hard work and contribution to the game.

Jovic, a formidable talent in the Ugandan skateboarding scene, secured the second position in the race for the title. His remarkable skills earned him the admiration of voters and a well-deserved cash prize of UGX.150,000/=. Meanwhile, Bryan, whose passion for skateboarding shone brightly, clinched the third spot, earning a cash prize of UGX.50,000/=.
The cash prizes, though symbolic, underscored the Uganda Skateboard Society’s commitment to supporting and nurturing local talent. The acknowledgment of these skaters’ efforts went beyond monetary value, serving as a catalyst for their continued growth within the country.
